INSTRUCTIONS AND PROGRAMME FOR POREČ DOLPHIN.

Poreč Dolphin started in 2000 and has grown into one of the largest swimming events on the Adriatic, bringing together more than a thousand participants of all ages. Over the years it has developed into a summer sports festival, and this year it brings 6 disciplines.

Place and time

The 24th Poreč Dolphin 2025 will take place from 29 to 31 August 2025. In case of bad weather, the start may be postponed by 3 hours from the scheduled start time, or by 24 hours.

Town of POREČ, start at Valamar Pical (Valamar Pical beach).

The course

The full length is marked by a swimming line, with finish boats anchored at the intermediate points (1500 m and 3000 m); the finish for the 500 m and 5000 m routes is at the starting point.

The swimming distances are:

  • Blue Dolphin – 500 m – for everyone who simply wants to take part — new!!
  • Bronze Dolphin – 1500 m – for good swimmers and everyone who feels like one
  • Silver Dolphin – 3000 m – for those looking for a challenge
  • Gold Dolphin – 5000 m – for the bravest

You may swim in any style and with any swimming aid: fins, masks, kickboards, air mattresses and so on.

Instructions for swimmers

The start is continuous from 08:30 to 14:00, from Valamar Pical beach. The course closes for all routes at 16:30! Swimming stops at:

  • 14:45 for 1500 m
  • 15:30 for 3000 m
  • 16:30 for 5000 m

You may swim in any style and with any swimming aid: fins, masks, kickboards, air mattresses…

You can rest on a boat and then continue swimming to the next finish point (a rest boat is stationed every 250 m).

Finish boats at 1500 m and 3000 m offer a place to rest and refresh with water and glucose.

A lifeguard patrol is on the course at all times!

There is no age limit.

All swimmers take part at their own risk.

CHILDREN UNDER 14 may take part only when accompanied by an adult (a parent or guardian).

Swimmers under 18 need a parent's consent to start.

Swimmers aged 70+ are advised not to swim alone, but with a companion.

If you get into difficulty while swimming, stop and ask for help if you need it!

On registration, participants receive a start number and a timing chip wristband.

The chip wristband is returned after the swim.

Timing is handled by the professional company Pro Time.

Your time is available online immediately after the swim.

If the weather deteriorates, the organiser may stop the swim before the scheduled end of the marathon.

Registration

The entry fee is €25 for swimmers under 16 and €30 for everyone else.

The entry fee includes:

  • A medal
  • Fruit, sugar and water during and after the race
  • A hot meal
  • A marshalled swimming course along its full length
  • Speedboat transfer from the finish points (at 1500 m and 3000 m)
  • Chip timing
  • Blood pressure check / medical assistance

On registration, participants receive a start number, a timing chip and a lunch voucher.

The chip wristband is returned after the swim, at the same place where it was collected.

Your time is available online immediately after the swim.

Until 25 August you can enter online at https://poreckidelfin.com or through PRO TIME – Professional timing, paying online.

On race day, Saturday 31 August, you can enter at the registration desk from 06:15 to 13:30 — cash payment only.

Safety measures

Everyone swims at their own risk!

The organiser provides:

  • A medical team at the start/finish area
  • Medical advice for swimmers when needed, at the start/finish area and along the course
  • A blood pressure check before the race — medical staff may bar a swimmer whose readings are poor!
  • Continuous lifeguard cover along the course

By entering you confirm that the organiser, the Sports Association of the Town of Poreč, is not liable for injuries or health problems arising during the event as a result of poor health, inadequate preparation or undiagnosed conditions.

By entering you agree to follow the instructions of the medical staff while taking part in Poreč Dolphin.

The course is marked by a swimming line along its full length and is patrolled at all times by a lifeguard team.

A medical team is stationed at the 5000 m start/finish.

If you get into difficulty while swimming, stop and ask for help if you need it!

By entering Poreč Dolphin you accept the decision of the medical staff: if at any point they decide that you cannot continue swimming because of your state of health, you will not contest that decision. It is binding on you.

Other information

When you arrive at Valamar Pical beach, follow the signs or ask at the info point and they will point you the right way.

Languages we speak: Croatian, Hungarian, English, German and Italian.

The changing tent is right next to the registration point. You can leave your things there once you have registered and collected your start number. It is open from 07:15 to 17:00.

  • Public showers are on the beach and are free of charge.
  • Toilets are located just behind the changing tent and are free of charge.
  • The water park is free to use for the duration of the event.
  • Parking for cars and buses is provided at the VINDIJA CAR PARK.
  • Parking is free for all participants.
